Listen the Wind
Hello!
The COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting lockdown have led to a rethinking of the meaning of education and school in the 21st century.
Could education be nothing more than intense preparation for learning to "hear the wind," that is, for perceiving the world around us?
So how can we broaden our perception of the world around us?
But what is education?
What is school??
Could it be that education is more than an intensive preparation of human beings to learn how to “listen to the wind”—that is, to perceive the world around them?
And why is it so important for us to perceive the world around us?
Could it be that, by understanding what is happening around us, we gain the extraordinary ability to anticipate what might happen in the near future?
And why is it so important for us to be able to anticipate?
By anticipating, do we gain the possibility to adapt?
To defend ourselves? In other words, do we gain the ability to survive?
Or might we gain greater well-being?
Perception, anticipation, survival, or well-being—is this the logical sequence?
Is this the logical sequence?
Does greater perception guarantee more secure survival or greater well-being in life? Greater happiness?
So how do we expand it?
How does our perception of the world around us change?
Is it through the acquisition of the vast body of knowledge accumulated by Humanity throughout History?
Or rather through the full development of all human capacities?
Can a human being with more knowledge and more developed abilities better anticipate the future, preparing more effectively to achieve survival, well-being, or happiness?
What is the role of the school?
So that each person can expand their ability to "hear the wind"?
Do we not need to review all possible clues coming from pedagogy, psychology, or neuroscience?
What kind of educational project might emerge from articulating all these new insights from pedagogy, psychology, and neuroscience?
And what lessons can be drawn from 30 years of teaching experience by any given teacher?
Despite periods of pessimism
that Humanity may overcome...
Is there still any hope that, with more knowledge and better skills, we can move towards the light of progress?
It will be important to know how to listen to the wind...
that is blowing, always guided, of course, by a moral compass that points us in the most appropriate direction?empre, obviamente, de uma bússola moral que nos indique o caminho mais adequado?
